What we do
Tech Buying Today is a buying-guide website for the technology you use every day. A single search for a router or a pair of headphones returns hundreds of near-identical products, each with big claims on the box.
Our guides narrow that down by use case: an apartment with thick walls, a gaming setup, a small office, a home studio. For each pick we explain who it suits, what to expect in a normal home, and where it falls short, so you can decide with confidence.
What we cover
- WiFi routers: routers for apartments, large homes, gaming and small offices, matched to your internet plan.
- WiFi extenders: fixes for dead zones, including outdoor, wired and provider-specific options.
- Headphones: over-ear headphones for work, travel, the gym and everyday listening.
- Product reviews: reviews of tech products that we own, written with our own photos. New reviews are being added.
How we choose what to recommend
Specs checked against reality
Coverage and speed figures on the box are best-case numbers. We compare them with realistic limits for walls, floors and internet plan, so you know what a product is likely to do in a normal home.
Pros and cons, not hype
Every guide lists the downsides next to the strengths, and points to a cheaper or stronger option when a pick is not the right fit.
Clear about experience
Where we have used a product ourselves, we say so. Where a guide is based on research and specifications, we say that too.
What every guide includes
- Who each pick suits, described by situation and not by spec sheet.
- What to expect in a normal home, not the best-case figure on the box.
- Where it falls short, listed next to its strengths.
- An alternative, cheaper or stronger, when a pick is not the right fit.
Who writes the guides

Jason
Tech enthusiast
I am a tech enthusiast who loves to research. Before I recommend anything, I compare the specifications, read the fine print and look for the trade-offs, then write it up in plain language so you can decide quickly.
How we make money
Some links on this site are Amazon affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That is how the site pays for itself.
If a company provides a product for review, we will say so in that review. For the full details, read our affiliate disclosure.
